Help - what's wrong with my car!?!?
Can you help? I have a 2004 156 1.9 with circa 55k on the clock. A few months ago it started to develop a bit of an issue with what I think are the brakes. They felt as if they were binding, and would often squeal/scream like a pig but only with a bit of lock on, but not whilst not braking, so the more lock the more braking occurred. It drove me nuts so I took it to the garage who said the discs & pads [5 months old] were knackered and seemed to be worn on the top and the bottom at an angle of 30 degrees. The recommendation was to replace - so I had new discs and pads which has made no difference what so ever. So after a couple of hundred miles I stripped them down myself to see my BRAND NEW pads were worn at the top and the bottom at an angle of 30 degrees again?
So I stripped the brakes and cleaned them well then greased them well, built them back up and tried again. Although this worked briefly the problem didnít go away.
One final attempt this weekend repeated the above, plus I greased the sliders well too. I was sure this would crack it, but the squeak/scream is back although the binding isnít prominent!??!
Has anyone experienced this issue, can they pin point the problem or should I throw money at the damn thing until the problem is solved?!!?!?
Thanks in advance
