Hmmm Knockin noise from under

Hi everyone..
my 156 sportwagon 2.4JTD has bin for his MOT, failed on two front windscreen wipers and nearside front ball joint...quite pleased really...but I have had this bloody annoying knock coming from the front n/s for the last couple of months. I thought the ball joint might have solved it but alas no.So I have replaced the upper wishbones, and drop links...and the b'stard still knockin but not as bad. I've kinda resigned myself to anti roll bar bushes.
How are they done any one got an idiots guide or a link please.?

Hi, yes there is a How To with pictures around here just look/search for ARB bushes.
I think Sears did it (I did the job myself in about 2 1/2 hours).

I had the exact same issue as you and changed upper & lower arms, then both drop links, to confirm the anti roll bar is the fault you need to do what i was advised to do and disconnect the drop links from the ARB and take it for a steady ride along a road that would normally make it knock....if no knock then there is your answer, if this doesn't help then I have a couple of other points to check that All Things ALfA advised me on. Good Luck!

Just replacing the bushes is not enough if it's the the knocking arb problem, my view on this has been shown on this many tiems, the problem is the bar corroding, replacing the bushes is a halfassed way of solving it, t do it right and perminantly you should replace the complete bar including bushes.

But it could still be drop links, upper or lower arms which are causing it so have it checked properly and if your near Wilts then I will gladly look it over for you.
