Right this is a thread a fair time in advance for me but I wanted to ask your opinions. You all very kindly offered your comments when I was sorting out my 5 year service in this thread: 5 Year Service
The next service due is the 6 year service, including all the belt changes and water pump renewalls etc... So am I right in thinking that the following things need changing:
- Timing Belt
- Balance Belt
- Balance Belt Tensioner
Is there anything else that needs doing?
With my 5 years service I managed to bring the cost down by buying most of the bits 'n' bobs before hand. With that in mind I want to do the same for this service, seeing as though a fair bit needs doing!
Now had an email from shop4parts with a few offers in, they have a Timing Belt Kit (which I assume includes the timing belt, idler and tensioner) which has been reduced from £112.56 to £79.99. Plus the 10% discount code brings that down to£70. So went on the website and ordered the Timing Belt Kit.
This has led me on to another thought, have I jumped the gun in getting the kit now? Will it affect the life of the belt buying it 11 months in advance? Or will it really make a difference?
I appreciate any comments guys, it made a difference last time!
