Reverse lights not working - 156 JTD

What it says. Presumably not bulbs as both out. Can I assume it is either a fuse or the sensor in the gearbox? To eliminate the former, can you tell me where is the fusebox and which fuse I need to look at? Or else what might be wrong?

Replace both bulbs to rule them out. Bulbs that look good often aren't.

I don't know off the top of my head which fuse it might be, but the same fuse will *probably* serve other lights. Is anything else not lighting?

My next port of call would be the reverse switch on the gearbox. Check this (it sticks out the front) for loose/dirty connections. If you've got a multimeter, put the car in reverse and check it for continuity (or short the pins on the plug and see if the lights come on).

Finally, it has been known for wires in the boot wiring loom to break. Try wiggling the cable that goes from the boot lid into the car and see if the lights flicker.
