Always difficult to diagnose problems by remote control, but.....Your non-starting issue sounds like a poor earth, either at the battery end of the cable, or where the cable bolts onto the gearbox.....I'd certainly try this as a first shot.
As for it being "flat" - it could be the MAF - its immediately above your air filter box, a black plastic cylinder about 3" in diameter, with a wiring plug on it......unplug it and see if the performance alters....if its no different, then the MAF is probably faulty.....
Another "most likely" cause is a split in one of the hoses running from the turbo, via the intercooler to the throttle body, or indeed a loose hose.
Thirdly, I understand that the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) valves can cause problems...but I've no experience on that so wait for someone cleverer to come along.....
