horn just burnt out

HI hope somone out there can help my 147 decided to sound its horn
untill it burnt out, after about 10min of me trying to stop it.
The day was very hot and i'd parked up for about an hour before it started.
There was an electrical burning smell coming from the front nearside
which i assume was the horn.
Has anyone had this prob.,and what causes it?and whats needed to fix.

Re: horn just burnt out

I havent had your issue but i can tell you that the horn is located in the drivers side wheel arch near the wheel. (well it is in a 156 so i assume its the same on a 147)
There are 2 horns i know this as the low pitch one has gone on mine leaving just the high pitch one making my car sound like a fairy when i sound the horn.
It may be worth checking the contacts on the horn.?

As for the burning nearside. check your battery terminals.

Re: horn just burnt out

Horns are behind the bumper on the LHS from memory.
There are two.

Sounds like a relay or switch problem.
Most problems are with the switch failing off, not on.

Funny the fuse didn't blow. I'd get the wiring checked.

Take the opportunity to replace the weedy original
with an air horn. Fitted one on my 147 as the standard
one just isn't up to the job for driving around here.
