Wow guys thanks so much for all the friendly replies! I thought it was only our BMW forum that was this friendly!
Sounds like the problems aren't too bad. I was thinking of taking the car up to Alfa Workshop up in Royston and getting them to have a look at the various problems, though I suspect if I pay them to fix it I could have just bought a better car for the money I would have spent so I'd rather do most of it myself!
Thanks for the offer on the door handles, but I've already paid for those! I guess I should have asked here first lol
Iainfm, thanks for the offer on the switches too. My plan was to take the old ones out as they do work but the driver side one is wobbly and needs to be pressed in the right way to close the window (first found out on the M6 toll road in the rain lol)!
I'll have a look for the Haynes manual too. I popped into my local Halfords but they didn't have one - A starts with Audi according to them!!
The passenger airbag was switched on before when the light was on but I've switched it off now because it looks like it's coming out of the dashboard (or somehow a bit loose, not sure how to describe it or if that's normal). I suspect the airbag light is on for the driver side because the seat is knackered! I just tried raising it using the lever and it only raises on one side! The other side stays on the floor lol! Any ideas on this or am I better off just sourcing some new seats?
As I said this car is a bit of a banger so I'm trying to avoid spending too much on it (though knowing me, I probably will eventually if my BMW is anything to go by)...
