I love £500 cars. It never ceases to amaze me, how much car you can get for that money. Look after them, and they'll do everything that something 10 years newer and costing 20 times as much will.
People will tell you that spending money on them is daft but it isn't. £250 for a timing belt on a £500 car doesn't make a huge amount of sense to some. However, what else can you buy for £250?
I know people who drive new cars who thought I was daft spending £300 on new brake calipers and a cat for my £600 Primera GT's MoT. But their cars cost more than that the minute they drove them out of the showroom, and mine was ready for its next 150,000 miles.
