Is this a TDC Sensor Problem?
Car's been running well up to now but have noticed occasional starting problems after engine is warm. On first turn of the engine it splutters and sounds as if it's running on 2/3 cylinders. It's still turning but the whole car is rocking. I switch off and try again straight away. Engine starts as normal.
Anyway, this evening after dropping my daughter off, I stopped off for a swift 1/2 and again the splutter on starting. Again, on 2nd attempt started as normal but 1 mile down the road, put my foot down and around 4000 revs ping. No power and engine cut out.
Stopped and tried a restart. No problem. Started 1st time and got me home without any problems. A bit closer to home thought I'd wind it up again to see if it would do the same but no, it was OK even past 4000.
Having read a few of the posts here about cutting out, I'm close to assuming that the TDC sensor is on its way out.
What do you think????
Car's a 1999 2.4 JTD.
If you chase the answer, it moves away.
