147 running cold after coolant leak
Just when I think I'm getting all of the things on my 147 sorted!
Last week my oil cooler sprung a leak which consequently drained my coolant from the system. I drove the car for about 1-2 miles before noticing that my temp had gone up to about 100c. I stopped instantly, refilled the coolant and patched up the leak. I then tryed to self blead the system by running the engine with the filler cap off and the heaters on full blast. As expected the water level did drop while doing this so I topped it up to the correct level.
Since doing all of the above the engine has never gone above 90c however it has been running cooler than I would like.
Before the insident the engine would heat up to 90c then the theromostat would open up dropping the needle to 70c. The temp would then creep back up and stay between 85-90C at all times.
Now the engine will warm right up to 90, the stat will open, the level will drop to 70 just like before but from then on the temp will vary between 75C to 90C.
Can anyone tell me if I should worry about this and also if they think they know what is causing it.
I tried bleading the system again yesterday but it has not changed anything.
