In my 147's I'm almost sure the gearbox works normally! And I'm getting use to it more and more every day. But, because when changing gears it gives me a very racing feeling (using my "full hand" and my whole arm to change gears- Not stiff thought!!!!) I was expecting for a more robust and firm feeling.
In fact, I've been checking every gearbox I run across, for that subtle slack, and until now I have found it in every car (different brands- Not very good car, I'm afraid).
So... I guess it's just a question of what you would expect. In a shopping car, everything feels loose, so the gearbox comes with no surprise. In the 147, everything feel pretty firm, so the gearbox ruins it a bit, for me
I was expecting the good firm feeling one gets from the new 159 2.0JTD I've try recently, or the Mini Cooper D - Is it a diesel thing???
On this same note, how can one improve the overall feeling of the gearbox handle? ( I keep saying "the handle" because the gearbox feels perfect to me, it's when I touch the handle in gear that it feels tacky!
Am I making any sense?
