The new 166 v6

Why did alfa romeo designed a better and more powerfull JTD for the 166 (175bhp)
wile they use the GTA engine in the same 166 but with 'only' 240bhp and not the full 250????
So the diesel gets more power but the petrol one gets less???

And does that 'downtuned' 3.2L v6 Still keeps the same sound like the real GTA engine???
I hope so!!

Bart, the JTD 20v with 175bhp is also on the 156. I think the change with the 3.2 is due to the new pollution regulations.

And yes, it has the same sound wink

Alfa 166 3.0

Correct, 3.2 V6 is the only engine available on the 166 that meets EURO4 emissions standard (to be implemented by October 2005). All other diesel and petrol engines comply to EURO3 standard (in force since October 2000).

I also believe the 3.2 has less power in the 166 to give it more torque... its a case of different driving styles....

GTA = sports
166 = exec cruiser

I think
