Re: New Key!
The key is £100 part from Alfa, the code to program it is £10 and then it is whatever amount of time the dealer/indie charges to do it. I got my programming done for £20.
I think in theory it is possible to buy an old key off ebay then get a key blank cut and place this into the old key and then have that programmed to the car. I didn't do to much research into it because of the difficulty of removing the blade from an existing key.
When I ordered my new key I had to wait a week whereupon I received a key for a completely different car (despite the shop faxing my v5 to Alfa). The next key I got only had the blade cut halfway down the key, so I had to wait another week for the correct key (apparently they are only made in Italy). After that debacle the shop stopped selling keys.
