Cambelt change time! Quick question...
It's ALMOST that time again for a new cambelt.
There's been a few people asking the question regarding changing the waterpump at the same time, which I don't think is a bad idea as I'm thinking of keeping the car another year at least and peace of mind for 35 quid isnt a bad shout.
However, regarding the variator, I'm finding it difficult to justify changing it, it sounds as sweet as a nut anyway and changing it will be about £150 including VAT and labour. I've been told they're very rare to go at my mileage (70k miles) typically and you're likely to hear that they're on the way out anyway.
Overall I'm looking at £350 for a cambelt change which includes tensioners, aux belt change and cambelt idler and the waterpump. Not bad i'd say.
Baring in mind, its the least likely thing to go and I'd say I'd be getting rid at 85k miles, is it worth the £150 for a variator change...as it's currently fine?
Any1's 2 cents would be appreciated
