OK, just been on to a main Dublin Alfa dealer looking for an idea of service costs. This will be my 44,000 mile service, the service guy said that standard service will cost about 250 EURO, however he said that the timing belt and variator should be done also at a cost of 800 EURO. That's 1050 before I even start on suspension (which I am sure there are problems with), brakes, etc. Anyone any good ideas or know any good independents with proper equipment, etc? Would it be cheaper to travel to Northern Ireland, the UK, or anything, or will I have to stump up and bear it. I suppose, I don't mind too much, 'cos I do love the car, however would rather hang on to some of the cash if possible.
Thanks in advance.

Those prices sound about right. I called twohe main dealers last week just for the cambelt to be changed with the bits that go with it and both came in at €850. The service also would be an extra 200. I have it booked in with T.I. Autos off the Nth Circular Rd, (Gerry Campbell) who I got his name off this forum board. He's an Alfa enthusiast and is doing the cambelt, etc for €510. Going in next Monday 22nd. I'll let you know how I get on.
