Exhaust Cam Seized!
As in the For Sale section, my 147 is up for spares/repair.
What I need to know is the following;
The garage said that the problem was due to an exhaust cam seizure, the timing belt had teeth missing on it but was otherwise intact.
To be frank this is the first time I've heard of an exhaust cam seizing and was wondering if anyone of you chaps have experienced something similar.
The garage gave me a projected cost that they revised and it started to read like a telephone bill, they phoned me back a little later yesterday and said the cam was costed at 300GBP alone and that some plastic part of the inlet manifold had also gone. Personally I think they are a lieing bunch of shysters (spelling) as he followed that comment up by saying that someone in the trade has looked at it and offered 600GBP for the car as is.
I may be just venting a bit here because I am well upset but my original question remains - anyone experienced a camshaft seizure before and what was the prognosis?
