UK: Engine Stuffed ...

A colleague at work has run a main bearing in his 156 2 litre TSpark.

Quotes for exchange engines and rebuilds are touching £1700 and up.

A unit from Fiat/Alfa is £1500 + VAT ... plus fitting, parts and VAT.

Does anyone know where there might be a low mileage second hand lump??

PS He's asked me to post this as he's (a) embarrassed and (b) you guys wouldn't buy it when he comes to part with the car!

I saw a 156 in Aylesbury Auto Salvage a couple of months ago... don't know what engine size/mileage it had though...

That's where my V6 came from after cam belt incident. Be warned though payment terms are cash cos they keep getting ripped off with dodgy credit cards, they'll take a deposit on plastic to secure it.
