new ecu

Just got my car back from a service. It had a engine light and motor control system failure on when i sent it in.
The garage said it was a problem with the ecu. it is not effecting the cars driving as far as i can tell. How much would a new ecu or a second hand one cost. Just wondering should i fix this quickly or since it doesnt not affect the drivng can i leave it a while.

Re: new ecu

I think it would be worth double checking the car on an examiner. There are plenty of sensors that will give a MCSF and they are much easier and cheaper to fix than replacing the ECU.

I agree, get it checked by an auto electrician or a competent mechanic!

Re: new ecu

I'd find a new garage.

One way of ripping people off is to replace the most expensive part.

I'd go somewhere else and ask them to tell you the fault code numbers.

No harm testing the battery as well.
