156 2.4 JTD 20v, warning light help request.
I am in the process of buying a 156 2.4 JTD 20v (2004) and have a query over the significance of the warning lights. I know and understand the usual sequence, ie. they should come on then go out.
The last car I test drove had ABS, EBD & VDC(?) stay on, backed up with warnings on the computer display about their respective systems failure. When I queried the dealer over this he claimed it was because the battery had been totally flat and recently charged - is it possible that this could be the case, or should I really steer clear?
Also while I was test driving it the Motor Failure warning came on and the computer was advising me to stop the car!
If it is likely that these symptoms could be caused from a flat battery then it may be worth a punt, but I'd really appreciate some advice from someone in the know.
