In praise of my Blackline Q2

So, 13,500 miles in, what has my Blackline Q2 GT been like to live with?

In essence, probably the best car I have ever owned - it hasn't missed beat!

I took delivery in Jan 08 and being a fastidious type, then did my own "mods" which consisted of replacing the standard bulbs for decent PIAA road legal (just) jobs (helps a lot out in the sticks here),
treated the leather with Gliptone, fitted a Parrot bluetooth and once it was carefully run in, a trip to Red Dot left it with 182bhp and 270lb/ft!!!

I have looked after it well, never cane it when cold, but otherwise drive it hard over the great roads of Wiltshire. The Q2 makes the car and it is at its most fun in the wet, with the traction control off, as you can feel the grip levels and the diff working its magic to pull you round.

I took it to a track day which was great fun; it rained in the afternoon, and for once was thankful for being front wheel drive. Was able to surprise many faster cars who in the dry would have left me for dust including Caterhams (I have one of those as well) and a Monaro!

I am always driving cross country, mostly in a hurry, and "use" the performance most of the time when it is safe to do so.

In return, I get 35 - 37 mpg, which is frankly amazing for this type of driving.

My only faint regret is not having bought a V6 - I had 1 156 V6 and loved that car. Its a heart and head thing for me; head says 35mpg, heart says V6 and probably 18mpg.

That said, although I miss the noise and feel of the V6, the Blackline Q2 has been a fantastic car to own so far!!!

Sounds like a great car

Its a pity you damaged one of the blackline alloys, are these the multihole ones? You can buy ones on Italian ebay for significantly less than the UK dealer
