I was having little problems until yesterday so i thought i'd share a few ***-bits of info with ye,
I have a 156 1.6 SP2 unchipped unmodified and very well looked after by an alfa specialist in dublin,
I have this phantom fault nobody seems to be able to figure out.
Every so often my engine management failure light will come on and the car will perform fine up to 2500 RPM then wont accelerate until i change up. Its like driving a 2CV with a elephant on the back.
Stopping the engine doesnt work, Resetting the faults doesnt work, MAF is new, Sparks are new, Engine is spotless with only 55k on the clock, 3 timing belt changes since new etc etc.
So i tried the old, disconnect the battery for a few hours and it didnt make a bit of difference.
Then one day i got into the engine bay and disconnected the battery and absolutely every plug in cable i could find and cleaned the contacts/holders with compressed air, reconnected everything, turned the key to on for about 5 mins (ECU went crazy, clicking and popping) then started the engine up and left it idle for 15 mins.
Now she's driving better than ever, very responsive, smooth idle speeds, and i'm delighted with it, Only thing is that shagging light is still on, have to say im tempted to rip the bulb out from behind it at this stage
Whats this lambda sensor im hearing about and where is it, I think smacking it with a lump hammer is my next option. as im just waiting for the elephant to come back.
Now Rant over.
Any other suggestions?
