Changing GT Pedals

Hi all,

I recently bought a second hand GT. It's got what must be the standard rubber pedals. For some reason the grip on the clutch pedal seems to be very worn and as a result can be slippy if my shoes are wet.

I'd like to fix this somehow and I'm looking at either getting a replacement part for the standard pedals or fitting alloy upgrades.

Firstly, it looks like the rubber grip on the clutch pedal can just be pulled off. Is this right? (I would try but it's so worn that I'm worried it'll come apart.) If so, does anyone know if you can get replacement grips and what part number this would be?

Secondly, there are alloy pedals on ebay that are supposesd to be genuine parts (eg. here.) These look good, so I'm tempted to get these since I need to do something with the pedals anyway.
Does anyone know how easy they are to fit? On other cars I've heard of people having to drill holes in the original pedals to fit the alloy parts and it generally sounds like a bit of a bodge job. Is this the same with the GT or are there actually mounting points for the alloy pedals?

Re: Changing GT Pedals

Yep, they are genuine parts, you can get black inserts if you don't like the red. They are easy to fit, just drill two M5 holes in existing pedals and bolt the new ones on. Also, I d recommend getting the matching footrest alloy as well, it finishes the job off nicely.

Order via Jason at Donalds and save a tenner by the way.
