I'd like to pin any blame I can on the uninsured guy, but the accident I had didn't result in this head gasket failure. The car was playing up long before the accident and a garage I visited prior to the crash mentioned the car might have a gasket problem.
Apparently the head could also be damaged which, being a diesel, cannot be skimmed. I have no idea why this is but apparently I'm looking at about £1,000 for a new one.
Do I actually need one though? What difference would a slightly warped one make? The car actually drives extrmeley well at the moment and if it wasn't for the madly fluctuating temperature guage i wouldn't know anything was amiss.
