I would strongly advise you to check the oil level once a week using the dipstick, and top up with any reputable oil brand that meets the handbook spec. (I think its 10w/40 semi synthetic for these)
Just like many Audi/VW engines many Alfa engines use some oil. If you have waited until an oil warning comes on then you are putting yourself at risk of a major engine failure, so please keep ahead of it and don't allow that warning to come up again.
Alfas vary greatly in their oil use, but the four cylinder petrol engines more often than not do use oil between services. Our diesel 2.4 does not seem to use any, but all my previous Alfas did.
Don't worry how much oil it uses. Its cheaper than a new engine. Castrol GTX should be just fine.
