I've actually done this before with a motorcycle changed the apect ratio from 120/70 & 160/70 to 120/60 & 160/60 respectively, made the bike turn a lot quicker so much so I nearly binned it turning it around at the end of our road eek! , thankfully a quick adjustment of the steering damper cured that, as I rode the bike a dam sight faster than I would drive the alfa it had no noticeable affect at all
and the bike had shaft drive not exactly a diff, but there was probably the same effect you mentioned above, though to be honest I couldnt find or tell any diffearnce
