I've taken my GTA in for some TLC, I had an extremely severe rattle coming from the passenger seat from new, it seems that one of the metal thingies inside was loose, so they have to uncover the seat and give it to some fancy upholstery business...it's all covered by warranty so no stress there...
What puzzles me though, is that they gave me a 147 JTD 16v as a loaner, and that this car seems much more solid than my GTA...the JTD has 12000 km but there isn't even the faintest squeak or rattle, and it just seems much better built overall... My car has all sort of little parasite noises at only 2800 kms, I brushed it off as I understood that it's common with Alfas, but that loaner car, which gets gratuitous thrashings by everyone (
) is solid as a rock...
Also, on my car I have different assembly problems, the headliner cloth is too short and it comes out at the location where the window airbag starts, also the passenger door console which houses the window switch is not inserted properly...I get all sorts of squeaks, but that might be due to the fact that my car has leather and the oil-burner doesn't
Anyways, down to my question : My car was built on the first week of september, I understand that the factory closes for the entire month of August, so could it be that the employees were depressed about going back to work and they fluffed it, or could it be that the Alfa dealer continuously fixes the JTD to get rid of any niggles? Has anyone on here a totally, absolutely rattle free 147? If so, then mine is not done right?
FYI, the loaner rides on 16 inch alloys, but I don't think it would make that much of a difference, I am litteraly taking jumps with the diesel and there is no noise at all except my passengers heads banging on the ceiling laughing
Oh, by the way, the diesel is nice, lots of torque...that's about it, give me back my GTA rant
