The missis has a 155bhp 145 Cloverleaf
I have a 150bhp 156 Sportwagon.
The Sportwagon is faster across country, more economical and more pleasant to drive. Noise wise they are different - one is a raspy high pitched shrieker, the other is a bassy deep throbber, but both are equally pleasant and alluring to the sporty driver.

One thing that always seems to come out of these debates is that the JTD drivers either have both a JTD and a petrol, or had a petrol previously and all tend to say "diesel good AND petrol good".
The diehard petrolheads usually admit "well, no, I haven't actually driven a 16v JTD or a 2.4JTD, but my grandad had a 58bhp diesel Astra in 1985 and that was crap, so ergo, all diesels are crap".
+ "no useable powerband" (2.4JTD 1800-4500 =2700rpm)(2.0TS 4000-7000 =3000rpm), hardly a big difference
+ "diesel drivers only buy them for the economy" -b_ollocks, it's choice.
Diesel owners/drivers seem to be much broader minded and less prone to stereotypical and derogatory unfounded comments. What are you so afraid of?
I had a 2.0TS 147 which I ran for just over 6 months. It didn't/doesn't sound any better than the 2.4JTD, just different. For 95% of your everyday driving and especially for getting about and overtaking rapidly, I'll take the JTD everytime thank you.
Would I have a GTA instead? Of course if I could justify the extra £10k in the first place, higher insurance and double the fuel bill.
But please, don't go and test drive a JTD because thses debates keep me amused wink
