Well, look at it from a logical point of view... It can only realistically be three things, washer fluid bottle, coolant header tank or fuel tank. If neither are leaking, then you have nothing to worry about then.
Logic again plays a part in the wipers.... remove the arm and refit where it should be and try it... check the fuse! If that isn't it then try cleaning the wiper switch with contact cleaner, next try the motor and do the same to the contacts...If that doesn't work, then its the motor
Coincidently, if you require a new motor, don't bother with an alfa one second hand, they are far too expensive... Go for a Fiat Marea! same part number, same motor, same assembly and same length... Just £15.00 cheaper at the breakers yards... Oh and far more common!

Anyone can give advice on cars like "replace this part, replace that"... Start with the simplest solution and then work your way through it logically... Its a hell of a lot easier and cheaper!
