Auxillary drive belt (on old cars the fan belt)

Hello all
During a recent service i was advised that the aux belt needed replacing, the belt also has a tensioner and i am told a guide pulley. to replace all the parts will be over 100 plus the dreaded from my local motor factor, does anybody know of a cheaper stockist, and has anybody any experience of only changing the belt. I would normally change it all but i can do without the cost at present.
