Flat spots and drop in power

Not sure what is going wrong with my 2.5 V6, but from cold the engine does not sound happy. Every morning I need to let it idle for at least 5 mins otherwise when I try to drive it miss fires and loses power. When I exercise the accelerator pedal also it seems not to respond, as though there is a delay between me pressing the pedal and the engine revving.

Then, whilst driving, I get above 5000 rpm and the power drops off, which also happens when I try to accelerate at full throttle. This is a little disconcerting when I'm trying to pull onto a dual carriageway and I accelerate and the power drops off eek!

Does anyone else know what this problem could be related too?

Should I get a diagnostic run on the car?

It is currently under warranty (WH not Alfa), so should I take it back to the garage and tell them to fix it?

Basically, I would like to know if the problem is going to be a big one, or if it is likely to be something relatively minor.

check out our air filter and air pipes to see if there is a blockage.

Then check your plugs out.

Also throttle house could be really gunked up?
