Re: Lower wishbones - nightmare Job

With my ball joint splitter (which looks similar to the one in the photo) I've got a good inch between the centre of the bolt and ball joint splitter

Just wished I hadn't thrown out my old wishbones

Wouldn't a bar on top of upright / beneath wishbone provide tension in the assembly?
That's right. The hole in the bottom of the balljoint that i am supposed to put a hex key in has no face, it is just a clean round hole with nothing to grip :s

Re: Lower wishbones - nightmare Job

If you get a torx bit of slightly larger size than the old hex hole then batter it in, it will hold the center whilst you loosen the nut.

Re: Lower wishbones - nightmare Job

what about when you want to put it back together again (assuming your not replacing the upper WB)???

I've had this issue myself and have tryed both ways and once split the nut off using a nut splitter, save the wishbone and was lucky that my local dealer (Eric Ashmoles gon but not forgotten) had a spare nut in stock so i bought 5 of them...

A good crack with a proper hammer on the outer surface of the taper joint pops up the the tapered shaft most times.
