I'm a Dutch 147 (1.6 105bhp, 2001, using LPG for fuel) driver who is currently detecting some odd behaviors with his 147.
Odd behavior no. 1
After starting the engine the display that shows the mileage starts to blink. Everything else works fine, but the small display starts blinking like mad.
Shutting down the engine and restarting fixes the problem but sometimes results in an error message from the computer stating the ABS / EBD systems are faulting.
Odd behaviors no. 2
The standard Blaupunkt CD stereo (with controls on steering wheel) changes the fader setting (switching all the sound to the back speakers) when adjusting the volume. This happens a few times a day, and gets very annoying.
Any ideas, that might explain these odd behaviors are most appreciated. I have this car for four months now and it has seen the inside of the dealer way to many times already.
First let me welcome you to Alfaowner. I hope you'll have a pleasant stay and I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute.
About the first problem: your Alfa needs a proxi-alignment. Take it to your dealer as he should know what to do. This signal means that the body computer is connecting and checking all the other systems.
I'm now shooting in the dark but the second problem might be related with the first. Something could have messed the system and that behavior is a result of something. When there's something changed, the body computer checks for updates. The flashing km display acts as warning.
Patrick, sorry to ask but, have you studied in Nijmegen by any chance?

Welcome to Alfaowner. I hope you will enjoy your stay and find the answer (and fun) you are looking for.
When you turn the ignition key all kinds of functions are checked if they are okay. If not, an error message will occur. If for some reason the check can not be completed, the odometer starts blinking as a kind of a warning. If this happens twice a year you can ignore it, if it happens quite often, take your bella macchina to the dealership.
If you have the fader in another position then '0' it sometimes happens that the fader sets the sound to the back of the car. It is one of the Alfa things no one can explain. Look here for a bit more information on the subject.

Hey Guys, this mileage blinking thing happens to me sometimes, it happened about 5-10 times in 2 months (4000 km), so its not so normal , right? You think is a big problem? I really don't intend to take it to the dealer for only that much, AR dealers in my country are pretty dumb and keep my car for 3 weeks for any problem, You guys think its a good decision or I'll regret it later?
