Flow Modification Throttle - GT JTD

Hi, my GT died on me last Sunday, engine just cut out with a "Motor Control System Failure" warning. Engine still cranks when you turn the ignition but does start. I had a mobile mechanic come out this morning who ran the diagnostics. After clearing all the error codes the following two remained:

P0638 Flow Modification Throttle
P0304 Phase Sensor Circuit

I've searched these forums but couldn't find any posts about these faults. Does anyone know what they could be and, importantly, is it serious / expensive to fix?!

I'm aaiting a call back from Rusper but am hoping there's some experience out there that could help me understand a little bit more about these probs...

Re: Flow Modification Throttle - GT JTD

If a JTD does not start;

First thing to look for is Crank shaft sensor.

(Signals the ECU that the engine is turning over)

If that is Ok, I would check the Cam shaft sensor.

(Signals the ECU when to inject fuel)

If one of these signals is missing, no fuel is injected.

The sensors are about £50 isch each.

So no big deal parts wise.

The Cam shaft sensor can be a little tricky to replace, as some people take the timing belt off to get to it.

I have found a way to replace the cam shaft sensor without disturbing the timing belt.

If you have a look at :

That might give you some idea.

All the best

With an Alfa itís a bit like with your very first Girlfriend.
Once you found out where everything is and whatís itís used for, life becomes much more fun.
