147 can belt failure...who should pay?
I bought an 03 plate 147 selespeed 9 months ago, and today the cam belt failed. Already had a quote back for £1963 to repair top end plus water pump. Not good!!!
I bought the car from an alfa dealer, the car had done 40,000 miles when purchased. My question is, should the dealer be responsible for selling me an alfa after the recommended 36,000 without changing the cam belt? Should this have been done as part of the pre sale service? After all, they changed brake pads, tyres and a few other parts associated with wear and tear before i was allowed to drive off with the car.
Current milleage is 47k, the car is under warrenty but they are claiming the cam belt is not covered!
Do i have a case to argue, or do i stump up the cash without fuss?
Advice greatly appreciated!
