156 Sportswagon big ends???

Thanks for all the advice so far. Have checked out mains & big ends - all OK. Journals measure up OK. No evidence of excess heat anywhere, however, after inspecting the bore of No4 cylinder (lying on my back under engine) there is some pick-up on the inlet side of the cylinder wall & the piston underside is slightly discoloured compared to the others. Could this account for the knocking sound? & what could have caused this? Is it worth me taking the oil spray pipe out & checking - looks damn difficult with crank in situ. What are Torque settings for main bearing caps, big end caps & sump bolts.
