V6 Flat spot

I've got a 156 V6 and it has a slight flat spot around 5k revs. Is this normal?
Also looking for independent servicing in Hampshire. Any recommendations?

You may have a problem with your air-flow meter. The V6 "wakes up" around 4000 rpm and goes manic at 5000 all the way to its redline.

This is a known wear-and-tear issue. If you search this forum you will find many discussions on the V6 flat spot caused by a faulty AFM.

I faced a similar problem in 2001 and the dealer traced it to the AFM through a process of eliminating all other possibilities.

Best regards,

I agree, expect to pay about 170 for a new one.

156 2.5 V6

I have just had this exact same problem at the same revs and it was the air flow meter. After replacing the meter the car was instantly restored to full power and it came as quite a suprise to feel the difference. I think it was probably gradually dying for a while and I did not notice until it became quite bad.

I was a bit cheeky and asked my dealer for a discount which he gave me. 10% knocked off so it came to 153.
