Re: Please help!! Gears stuck!!!
Well, Mav came over and by christ did the car have issues, there had been work done on it recently and everywhere I looked there was a little something else needing fetling, ran it on the diag and got 5 sele codes, 3 engine codes and 1 airbag fault, but the sele was the simplest of the lot, as I jumper into the car to move it round the back it did its stuck in 4th thing, well I could just hear that the pump was primimg for 3 seconds and off for 1, so whilst it was doing it I whiped off the intake duct, I barely touched the loom and the whole thing went mental, clunking and slaming gears, having a 10mm spanner in my hand the only option was to disconnect the battery, this stoped it (and everything else. The loom, which was not secured in ANY of the clips was just bouncing round the engine bay, closely followed by the relay in its holder, So I reconnected the battery, this caused the mental car syndrome again. OK, out with the relay, off with the corrosion on the terminals and a good wiggling of it back in the holder and there was no mention of hassle for the rest of the day.
So the car got moved into the work area, out with the battery and tray, refit all the looms where they should be, securing all the wiring back into its clips and cleaning the relay and holder thoroughly, recalibrate the clutch and run the EOL, all passed first time and the system giving at least 4 changes before priming again, so all is back to normal with it.
The rest of the stuff on the car is just down to poor mechanicing by the people that worked on it last, crossthreaded/missing/loose bolts all over and the steering pump spraying the engine bay and chewing up the aux belt, lucky I keep old ones around as the original one was all chewed up and about to go.
