After my MOT, I had a couple of advisories. Major one being the exhaust.
It had got through after being taken apart and refitted to cure a couple of blows (one at the middle/cat join and the other at the middle/back box join).
All was going well until yesterday, gave it some beans on the way home and noticed it was A LOT LOUDER, when I got home. Jacked it up and found that the middle box pipe had rusted through where the backbox pipe overlaps. A vain effort with the gungum bandage, put me in the market(ASAP) for a centre and back box.
Although the back box was OK, but quite rusty in parts, the end of the middle box was well and truly stuck in it, and I did't want to faff about for ages, cleaning it up, refitting it on a new middle box, for it to start to blow from somewhere else in the next (insert ridiculous period of time here).
Found a middle box from an ALFA breakers in Haslingden, Alfaspecialist79 on eBay (catlow77 username). Good price and he's got loads of ALFA bits for the more modern car 156 onwards.
Got a new backbox from my local autofactors (who didn't have a middlebox).
Took about 1/2 hour to fit (on my back, car on axle stands!!), but now sounds (and to be honest, looks) a lot better.
Just thought I'd advise any NW AO'ers to the availability of a decent breakers in the area (in case you didn't already know).
...if wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets...
