Think my headgasket's blown on 2.0 ts
Here's the story I'm driving home from work 20 mile down motorway no problem, as I turn off onto slip road and slow down for the round about I notice the the temp gauge is climbing fast, Carry on another 2 mile to next roundabout and pull into petrol station by now temp gauge is of the scale with light on.
Bonnet up and steam from header tank cap, after half hour I removed the cap and releaed the pressure, topped up with water and started engine, header tank overflowed almost straight away, waited till it settled then added more and drove the other 4 miles home.
Temp gauge was in the red again when I reached home and half the coolant was gone.
the next day I topped the level up and ran the engine for a bout 20mins on the drive, it got up to temp ok fans kicked in as normal temp dropped and fans went off so cooling system seems fine. Every so often it would overflow the header tank.
I decided to use it to take my daughter to school 4 milre round trip too see what happened, the temp started rising high by the time I got home on idle it is rough and smells a bit odd and it has lost water with a lot of pressure in the header again.
I'm pretty sure this is a headgasket failure but just looking for some confirmation.
Also I'm thinking of repairing it myself do I need any special tools.
