I guess thats the very nature of "special editions".
Produce a limited number of cars with a pack of extras bolted on & sell it cheaper than it would cost to buy if you added them on normally. Lots of car makers do this.
Does it make sense?
Well, I guess that the adding of all the extras is done at cost price, not the price charged to us customers, & it stimulates the market. It is often done towards the end of the life cycle of that model. The Cloverleaf GT is another example of a GT with a few extras included for a good price.
Maybe if someone walks into a dealer & says "I'd like one of them Blacklines please", the dealer can say, "sorry sir, they've all sold out, it was such a great car. However, I can sell you this model, add some extras/great finance package etc etc & generate a few sales that way.
