Anybody know what is causing this? Many head units loose everything stored in their memory, seconds after the permanent power supply is cut. On many cars, even the permanent supply is cut during starting the engine, to be able to give all available battery power to the starting motor. Perhaps this is what happens to you if sometimes the engine needs more seconds to start, or you have a problem at the headunit itself, and it needs to be serviced.
First thing I would do, is to give a permanent supply from the fuse box, and if the problem persists, get the HU checked.
