About to purchase my 3rd Alfa, a GT help needed!
Hello all im on the brink of purchasing an Alfa GT which would be my 3rd Alfa after 2 156's a 1.6TS and a V6. The car is on a 55 plate with 73k on the clock last service 64k by mangos, a full Alfa dealer history. The guy would like £2400 plus my 1.2 07 grande punto, which would include a 6 month warranty(is it worth it) plus either a new clutch which he says is on way out(test drove it and felt no problems) or a cambelt change plus waterpump on my recommendation after reading all the threads on here(the car was registered 11/2005 and is jtd not jtdm if that helps for age of engine) or he said £2000 as it is with no warranty. Should I save the £400 and wait to see if the clutch needs replacing in the future? Does the cambelt & waterpump really need changing asap as the car was registered 11/2005 and if so could this be done at a specialist ie ferdis lytham or a dealers for around £400. I have already put aside a couple of hundred for an oil/brake fluid service in a couple of months. Car is stromboli grey, black leather, 4 new tyres 4 new brake pads and brake lines all round. Any advice would be gratefully recieved. (If i get the car I will be able to start coming to all the alfa events again which i miss so much!) Thanks.
