bah! I was hoping you'd all say it was rubbish so I wouldnt have this dilema
Hey m8, it's a lifestyle choice really. Just being honest as I have driven both engine types. both great engines BTW
There will be some TS owners on here who will tell you that "there isn't much difference in performance" blah, blah, blah
Let me tell you now , oh yes there is!
0-60 & top speed are totally unrealistic figures when it comes to "real driving world" statistics
30-50 and 70-90 is where you will notice the difference on a V6 (overtaking speeds), remember... The less time you spend on the opposite side of the road, the safer the car is to drive.
As i'm sure you will already know, the T Sparks need to be worked hard through the gears and upper rev range in order to get the best out of em. The V6 is far more forgiving and you can be lazy and just ride the torque curve in taller gears with far less fluster...
One thing that should have been better thought out on the V6 manuals though was the long throw of the gearstick and the fact that it would have blitzed many a car in the "all important" (not) magazine 0-60 figures if Alfa had decided to just make 2nd gear just that little bit taller in ratio. (max speed in second gear 56-57mph)
Combine that with the ludicous length of the gearstick and the fact you have to grab 3rd to actually get to sixty anyway, they could have quite easily shaved at least a second off that time
That would have put it in some serious competition... but I guess we can't have everything our own way....
At least we have that glorious sound to make up for it.... much better than any other 4 pot with a big bore, bumbling along with a loud, continious fart
