156 1.9 JTDm turbo saga grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Cutting a long story short: The car is just out of warranty and has 30K miles on the clock, owned from new.
Lost power a couple of months ago, with MSCF, this power lost cleared on re-start. MSCF failure cleared a couple of days later.
Three weeks ago the same think happened, except there was a horrible tinny noise from exhaust. Main dealer diagnosed turbo failure. The turbo was replaced (with a remanufactured unit! OEM part is the same price). Exactly the same thing happened within 150 miles. Dealer agreed to replace the turbo FOC, but recommended an oil change as this was the probable cause (why not mention this 1st time round!). The car had an oil change 9K miles ago, but I agreed to have a £95 oil and filter change when the 2nd turbo was fitted, total bill now £1300.
Guess what, within 50 miles no power again!!!! There's no tinny noise from the exhaust this time tho. What's the odds that the next bill will be for a EGR valve, which I suggested on the first turbo failure (if that's what had actually failed ).
BTW no MSCF warnings on 2nd and 3rd turbo faults.
The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.
