The best way I can describe it is sounding like metallic high speed vibration a bit like a bolt in a tin I suppose. Was at 2-3k revs but not always noticeable.
Garage who now have it reckon crankshaft gone on at least 2 big ends and suggest a possible cam belt failure at some point in the engines history. I think the head had been replaced at some point so perhaps a fairly catastophic belt failure...!
The car was not labouring at all, but did have a few blips in power at times which I had put down to coil packs.
Am hoping once the boys at All things Alfa have finished I will get her back working as it did when I first got it.
