'light' back end

i have noticed that the back of my SW is a little light when driving enthusiasticaly through sweeping bends, especially left handers.

It feels as thought the back end is about to 'break traction' and slide, i have to unwind the steering and it gets a little unnerving when pressing on...

New tyres went on a few weeks ago (Goodyear Excellent)
Tyre pressures are bang on 2.2 bar all round.
No clonks or knocking noises from the back and the old tyres had very even tyre wear on them.

any suggestions?

Re: 'light' back end

Did it feel the same with your old tyres? Most new tyres can take a few hundred miles or so to "bed-in" to the car's suspension, my Toyos certainly did. They also have a release agent on them that has to be worn off, that can make them feel slippery at first. The rear will take longer to bed-in as the front is doing all the work, the rear "just" follows the front end (hopefully).

Mines a saloon but I can get a kind of lift off oversteer when really pushing it. Coming off the loud pedal and turning in, the back end can feel a bit twitchy. just the shift in wieght I think.

What tyres did you have before? they could still be bedding in but there is a chance they are also harder compound than the old ones .. you sacrifice grip for durability ...

Re: 'light' back end

it had a load of budgets on there of different descriptions, all of them pretty worn hence the decision to change them....

I have done about 1500 miles on the new tryes and the issue does seem to have got any better or worse
