Fumes in block

Hi all

i posted a thread about a weka ago called funny ticking noise.

As an update to that thread, the car is at the garage today with hopefully what will turn out a cracked manifold gasket which can be sorted fairly cheaply.

However last night when u moved the car about 4 feet to get onto level ground to check the oil i opened the oil filler cap as part of my normal check for mayo etc.

And the oil smelt quite fumey, as in exhaust fumes. now this could be where the manifold had cracked and hadnt had chance to seal with the heat.....or and this one is the one im dreading, the head gasket is on the way out. Can someone put me out of my misery before the garage? its not overheating, or losing fluids, or mayo so im hoping we're ok.
