factory fitted radio

yep me again.

this time where ca i get hold of the CD Changer for the 156?

I think its the Alpine CHM-620 , is there a up dated unit supplied by Alpine that is compatible with the Alfa radio?

Failing that, is it still available from Alfa or Alpine?

I'm sure it's the 620. On mines there is an adapter lead to connect it to the headunit. Try ebay for the changer, there are a few for sale. I covered my changer is grey carpet to match the boot, so at first glance you don't notice it.

You have to watch alpine units...

There are two interconnects M-Bus and the newer Ai-net

the CHM chamger is M-Bus (indicated by the M in the name) the other one will be Ai net for the same reason (A at the end of the name).

For example I've put an CDA7893R head unit in my 156 so that would require an AiNet changer.

I don't know what the model of HU that is fitted as standard by alfa but if it takes an M-Bus changer it ends in an M so wont take a changer that ends in an A....

Of course alpine do an M-Bus to Ainet interface unit so you can use M-Bus changers with AI-net head units, but not the other way around...

Hope this helps,

I fitted a CHM-S630 to my 156. Plugged into the lead in the boot, made a nice little shelf out of a cut up plastic chopping board covered in grey cloth. Dead easy.
Bought mine from car audio direct cost 160.
