V6 water pump?? slight over heating
Right ok as today is nice and warm I was driving the alfa and normally the temp sits around 85 -90 ish and obviously warms up to just over 90 and the fans kick in, but today I noticed the temp was sitting between 90 - 100 and the fans arn't bringin the temp down, there just managing to hold the temp at that position.
Recently I've had a slight ticking fromt he cam belt area and thought of the tensioner, but now I'm wondering if that noise wasa sign of a failiing water pump, the cars had 2 cam belts, but I hae no evidence of a new water pump or even if it has a metal one fitted, we are now on 167000 miles.
when the at idle and the temp starts rising and the fans are on, if I increase the revs the temp will drop quite quickly.
Am I right in thinking that this sounds like the early stages of a water pump failure?
I'm abou to order the parts for a cambelt change inc water pump anway, but I'm a little reluctant if this could be a head issue, but as the car has no mixture of fluids and has new thermostat and a recentish radiator, I'm thinking/hoping its the wter pump
Thanks for any advise
