Having driven several lowered 156s with 17" wheels, I find H&R springs are best for spring-only solution. It's firm, but never harsh. I didn't find Eibach as good as H&R in ride quality.
Novitec kit (springs+dampers) is firmer than above solution, much like Sachs Performance kit. Novitec seems slightly lower (40-45mm) than Sachs kit (35mm), though. I recently removed Eibach springs on my Sportwagon and installed Sachs springs with Koni dampers. They work well together, better than Eibach+Koni which were harsh at times. Sachs springs are softer than Eibach, giving excellent ride quality while Koni dampers keep things in control through corners and bends.
It's best to decide what your driving style and preference are, and what you want from lowering the car. Then it should be easier to pick the right suspension kit for your car. wink
